I rode my 500 HO to my mailbox the other day. When making a U turn on the paved road, the inside tire began to chirp and I swear it felt like a posi-trac rear end. I did it a couple more times, same feel and the inside rear tire was chirping and sort of jumping in like it was posi-trac.
I had it in 2WD.
What was I feeling and hearing there? Is it posi-trac?

Both rear tires are always locked together unless you have the "turf" mode differential which is doubtful from the sounds of it. They only did that for a couple of models/years

Nope. It's just a straight gear case...NOT a differential. Both axles are locked together and so one wheel has to scoot when turning sharply. Try it in the dirt or grass and you'll see the marks made by the tires scooting. Some models, X2 Rangers and such, have a "turf mode" that unlocks the rear to prevent tearing up the grass when turning.
