I have an 05 polaris sportsman 500. I recently changed the belt (replaced an old belt that had dry rotted and broke into pieces with a new oem belt) and after riding for a few minutes I heard a clanking sound inside the case. I took it back apart and a couple metal pieces fell out. Behind the driven clutch are metal fins or blades (I don't know what to call them) and 2-3 broke off. I'm guessing they serve as fan blades to pull air in and cool the clutches??? What would cause these to break off? Is it safe to ride with those broke off? Should I replace the driven clutch? Please help. Thanks.
