Hello everyone!!!
I am a brand new member here and this is my very first post.
I’m happy to announce I bought my very first ATV this month and looking forward to hitting the trails

A 2011 Ranger XP 900

I got it for a good deal as it needed a bit of work.
My last problem I’m dealing with now is a cold start issue.
Lately as the Temps in the North East have dropped below freezing, the ATV will start but after a few seconds it stalls and won’t restart.

After a couple of failed starting attempts I could smell excessive fuel.

I pull the plugs and they are soaked.
Clean and dry them, blow the cylinders dry with brake cleaner and shop air and it starts up and runs if I hold the gas at over
3000 -4000 rpm untill it warms up a bit and will run fine for the rest of the day.

If the next morning is mild it will start fine.

But after an overnight rest with say low to mid twenties F. ( -5 to -10 C.) same 💩💩💩!!!

I got the service manual today and plan on going through the machine’s EFI system
suspecting maybe temp sensor giving a colder reading to ECU creating an overly rich command or similar anomalies.

However I would love to get my hands on a professional diagnostic tool
I was told that the PU-47063-A that the dealers use is not for sale unless you are a licensed dealer.

Is this true?
If so can anyone recommend the next best thing?

Im a licensed and experienced auto/truck mechanic specializing in electronic diagnostics in the automotive and diesel fields and presently work in the aviation industry performing similar duties so the closer to a professional level tool the better for me.
I also plan on keeping this machine and have been bit by the ATV bug so I will always need this tool in my shop.

Would consider other entry level tools if the costs seem right.
Any help pointing me in the right direction with a Scanner/diagnostic tool or with my particular symptom would be greatly appreciated.

PS Merry Christmas everyone!!!
