As far as I know my 04 Scrambler is running just fine. I service it regularly and I don't rag on it. My concern is, it sounds like a diesel when it idles. I put a new plug in it and went with 91 octane and that helped a bit. Do Polaris motors just produce more noise than others?

I would think if it sounds chattery it could be the valves. Also check the drive belt cover to make sure it is not dragging on the belt or drive converter. my brothers kawasaki sounded like that right before he went riding and it blew up, found 6 of the 8 valves were warped and causing a chattering sound. Does it go away a bit when you give it gas? If so I would suspect the valves.

Thanks, I did check them. I think Polaris's just have a distinct sound. If it does blow up, I'll post pics.
