I have a 1985 250 trailboss that has a weak spark and no power to the head lights and taillights. Looks like the stator but I went to pull the flywheel off and I now have question. It looks like a simpe pull using an automotive type harmonic balancer puller but there is the large aluminum piece that protrudes from the flywheel where the recoil piece bolts on. Looks like that should come off first...but how?

Also and since I am finally here, the wheeler in question has some issues with not wanting to idle but does good at higher RPMs. Could this be the stator too? I have rejeted, adjusted, and cleaned the carb to death to no avail. Very hard to start, has 112psi in the cylinder. I have actually had the wheeler since new but it was in my dads shop sitting for 15 years and now I am getting it up so I have something else to bring with when I go with friends but I don't want to be the one holding everyone up either.

Thanks for any help.
