Hi I have stripped down the front diff of my 2002 sportsman 700, the problem is the awd doesnt disengage, every thing appears ok in the diff, bearings, cage etc, however the armature is slightly warped and has deep wear lines. When i applied current to the coil it grips the armature well, however on removing current there seems to still be magnetism in the armature plate.

Is this normal and could it be the reason my quad is stuck in awd?

Speedo isnt registering speed, shows gear selection, hours, will i have to bypass and operate awd by means of a toggle switch, any advice much appreciated.
Thanks

You need a new armature plate. From the sounds of the wear created by it sounds like the internals could be "gunk'd" up. So some fluid changes may be in order to flush the parts.
