My 2005 predator 500 was barely starting and if It did would run rough. After looking into it I realized it was a bad fuel pump and disconnected the lines and ran a line from the tank straight to the carb to get me by for now. The quad ran great for hours with no issues. Is there any need to replace the pump? What's the cons to making the carb gravity fed?

Replace the pump, they are not that expensive. When the pump failed on my magnum, it would run great for a few hours, but after the fuel level got below half a tank liquid pressure in the tank was not enough to supply the carb and it wouldn't run. Running too lean, popping and sputtering. You are taking the chance that it ends up running lean for a longer period and burning a piston. Think of it this way: the factory engineers put the pump on for a reason, it aint just for decoration. If they didn't think it was necessary, they would have saved the money and left it off.

I would go with the Polaris unit unless you can find an aftermarket company that offers one made in the USA. There are a lot of cheap ones from China, and my worry is always are they throw away units. No parts or support for them and they won't last. We know that parts are available to rebuild the polaris unit if you so choose. Also, who do you talk to if the unit prematurely fails? There are a few sites that offer Polaris parts at a discount. Bike Bandit, fix my toys etc....From the dealership I think the pump is about 60 bucks.
