I have a 2007 Hawkeye, it has a carb. My question is should fuel run through it when motor is off? My son was riding and it quit running, pulled into shop and fuel was pouring out the bottom of carb, shut fuel off it quit. pulled line going from outlet of fuel pump to carb, turned fuel valve back on, and fuel ran out of line. My question is with engine off should fuel be going through fuel pump? My other thought is, if fuel should be going through, is the float stuck causing fuel to run all over. Any input?

Fuel can flow through the pump by syphon without the motor running. If it was running ou the overflow of the carb then the float needle and seat are either stuck, dirty, worn out, or there is debris in it keeping it from sealing. Time to clean the carb and replace the fuel filter.

Yep, float valve leaking. Needs a new one.

That stinks! I just cleaned the tank out two weeks ago, I guess I will be removing carb tomorrow. Thanks

Probably a chunk of crap dislodged from the tank. A new fuel filter should catch any more stuff.
