The two easiest thing to try first is:
on the left handlebar ,where the switch is, follow the black wire ,down under the hood and unplug it,this is for the kill switch and will unhook the ground, if the kill swirch is bad, you should get a spark.
On th right handlebar is the ETC, pop the top off ,look inside and make sure that the two wire contacts are not touching, adjustment is made thru the adjuster on the throttle cable.
