I have a weird noise. The only way I can describe it is like wetting your fingure and rubbing it around the top of a glass. It only really does it around 3800 rpms. Any ideas?

I had a noise like that, mainly when it was cold at idle/ I found it was the exhaust gasket where the pipe attaches to the muffler was moving around/ I noticed the springs were not the same from side to side (pulling at an angle)/ I changed one of the spring locations and the noise is gone.
to find the noise/ I could make it do it with the engine shut off by just moving the muffler around (front to back movement, grab on the left side), and traced it to that exhaust gasket.
Ok thank you. I'll check it out when I get home. This forum is so helpful. I'm glad I found it!!!!!
