We have been planning on going Riding in Red River NM for over a year now and just found out last week that the forest is closed to ATV's for fire danger until they receive more rain, We are looking at alternate plans if it doesn't open up, What are some great mountain riding locations in colorado with places to stay for a week near by

riding in colorado

Hello from CO!,

I found the best place to ride in Gunnison. You want to go to Taylor Park, which is famous for fishing and atv riding. Ive been riding over there for years, and never get tierd of the trails and scenery. Ive been riding from St. Elmo (starts at Buena Vista) over Hancock Pass, Cumberland Pass and filled up/ate in Almont (in taylor park). I then contiuned on to Taylor Pass which goes over to Aspen, never made it due to snow and then back. The total trip was approx. 160 miles, done in a day. There are several old mining rodes with cabins and plenty of fishing holes.
