My Magnum 500 is getting hard to start and when it does it dies. If I can get it going, it dies while riding. I can smell gas which I couldn't before the problem. I'm not mechanically enclined so please keep responses simple if possible.
vjs if not done all your rubber is about about ready to be replaced. In your case smelling gas I would start by replacing ALL the gas lines. We just did all that on the first 2002 we bought this summer and it was needed. We are talking under $10 for new fuel lines at the auto parts stores. Max PSI is 3 pounds so the gas hose is not expensive like for fuel injection.
Is the crankcase full of gas? check and see if oil is over full and smells like gas, if so , needle and seat are bad in carb and need replaced, don't run it much if it is gassy, will take out bearings in the bottom end.
