My XP 550 has gotten very hard to start in this cold weather. Pops and backfires. I have to feather the throttle to get it to start. Takes awhile. Any ideas on how to fix?

Plug was black; only a few hrs on it; Cleaned the plug but wondering if bad gas might be the problem. Put injector cleaner in the tank to see if that helps.

These things don;t like to sit there idling. A few minutes warming up is plenty. If you run at a lower RPM for extended periods of time it will foul it out too. When I'm working around the house, putting around, I try to open it up now and again. If not, I find myself pulling the plug and cleaning it after a while. When I'm trail riding I'm always heavy thumbed. That's my experience anyhow.
