Had my 05 700 efi serviced today and wanted them to check my ride. I informed them that the speedometer is not working and my reverse override and 4 wheel drive aren't working either. I asked them after the oil change if they could do a test to determine if the issues were all speedometer related. A guy plugged it in and said the reverse override isn't working which I knew and then he took it for a spin. As I watched I noticed all 4 tires turning which I was glad to see. The guy then came in and said he got it into 4 wheel drive but now he can't get it out. He said he thought maybe the front differential was going or locked up. They then wanted me to buy a 1100 front differential.

With our first snowfall I was ready to put my plow on and have fun but now I don't know where to begin. What can I do about reverse override and the 4 wheel drive. I had the switches tested and there's power to both the 4 wheel drive switch and reverse override switch. But once the wires leave there I have no clue. I'm just dumbfounded how this thing can have all these problems. Ay input is appreciated.

So now its stuck in awd? thats usually because the cage is broke in the front diff, can buy all the parts to fix it from john deer for under $200.
Ya that's what the guy up there mentioned and I thought there would be a cheaper alternative. So how do I make absolute certain this is the issue? Is there any sure fire test I can do? Thanks for the input

I tested the switch and it gets power at the switch, I lifted it with a forklift and all 4 tires spun regardless if the switch was in awd or not so I'm not sure what's up? Sucks I'd like to know so I could fix it asap. Thanks for your input

Diff fluid!!! I had same problem and it was diff fluid. Very finicky about the type, amount, and condition of the front diff fluid. You can drain, flush and refill while the diff is in the quad but for best results take it out and open her up and give it a thorough clean with parts cleaner and refill with fresh fluid. I tested every connection in the electrical and was sure the cage was busted. Bought the parts from JD and took it apart to replace the parts and found everything was good just dirty. Hope this helps!!

Hey thank you I really appreciate it. That's probably what I'm going to do.
