Can someone please provide me detail instructions on how to test the TPS wiring harness. I believe I have a short or broken wire in the wiring harness. Everything I touch the wire with my hand with the ATV running, it cuts off. Additionally, with the key in the ON position (not started), when I touch the TPS wiring harness, I hear the fuel pump start and stop.

I have the service manual, but it is difficult to understand how to test the wiring harness.

I did some searches but not finding any specific instructions on testing the TPS wiring harness.

The ECM provides 5 volts to the TPS. So to test the wiring harness I need to do the following;

1. Unplug the harness from the TPS.
2. Connect the red and black probe from the voltmeter to which wires on the TPS pigtail/harness?
3. Make sure you are reading VDC on the voltmeter.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the on position.
5. The voltmeter should be reading 5 VDC.

Question: For step 2, the black and red probe from the voltmeter should connect to which wires on the TPS wiring pigtail/harness.

Doesn't matter really. Only 3 wires so try all options. Only 1 way will give you the 5 volts.

Found 2 of the three wires in the TPS wiring harness broken.. Time for a new TPS wiring harness.
