Hey guys. Ive been stricken with the dreaded reverse chain issue. Anyone know what it takes to rebuild. How much it would cost approx to have it done. What if any gearcases will interchange. And whether or not there is any upgrade that can be done to keep this from happening again in the future. My quad is a 1997 Scrambler 400 4X4. Thanks

Yeah the chain will run you about $40 from Cheap Cycle Parts. Really no special tools are required. I have done mine. The rebuilding aspect is depending on your own skills. Definitely get a service manual for your machine. I'm not sure of any upgrades for this problem. Most people are not making 103hp! That must be a wild ride. Not sure if any factory trans will hold up to that for very long.
You might try an older Gen2,(type2) out of 93 and older Trail Boss, Trail Blazer, 250,350. Some has low range. The Type2 trans is all gears.(No Chain)!
