Trying to replace the mechanical water pump seal on my 1995 scrambler 400 two stroke. Got diagram off of here wich shows the water pump behimd the aluminum sidecover. Iam calling it sidecover.... It is the aluminum panel on the right side of the motor that houses the flywheel.. Here is what i have done.. removed pull start housing, removed the flywheel, removed the 3 machine screws holding electronix field gizmo under the flywheel, all the 12mm bolts and the 10mm ones as well... Wjat else do i need to removed to get this panel off. I am not really seeig anymore bolts????

The slotted nut on the crankshaft has to come off, it is left-handed thread by the way. 1 or 2 of the front engine mount bracket bolts, as it overlaps the the third case and crankcase mating. There are 4 nuts that hold the water pump housing to the back side of the third case. All I can think of off the top of my head.

thank you.. this helps a lot.. so..

So i guess the piece i am talking about is called the "third case"? is the crank seal ok to reuae? would anyone happen to know he torque settings on the crank nut and the case/ ater pump bolts??? i will try it out when i get home from work (on tje road)

Most people call it a third case, the service manual calls it a cover. Personally, I would get a new seal and there is an o-ring behind the seal sleeve on the crank in the same area that I would replace. These are the torque specs out of my manual.
