Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if I should stop rideing my new XP 550 until the new set of rear control arm bushings show up?

The problem child is the outboard, upper control arm bushings where they meet the Hub. There is a little bit of slop in spite of frequent grease, and since I'm going to replace them anyways, I was wondering if there is any harm in continueing to ride until the new bushings arrive.

This unit has about 1100 miles.

Thanks.

WELCOME!!

The safe answer is YES, do not ride until they are changed.

Reality is if its not badly worn it will likely be fine. If its worn badly, the bushing is gone its steel on steel is next...

Thanks cw,

I would just let her sit until the new bushings are installed, but as it turns out, no local dealers stock them, and I'm SOL until the end of the week.

I've ordered two replacement sets, as I imagine this will be a regular thing.

If anyone knows of an aftermarket alternative, I would be interested. I don't want to change these things out every 1200 miles. . . there are at least 24 control arm bushings on this bugger, and that will get expensive!

Thanks again,
