Okay so I bought a 2013 sportsman 400 ho from my buddy tonight ( only has 91 miles got a sweet deal) I took the seat off to check the air filter now I can't seem to get the seat to latch back right. I never knew there was a magic trick to put this back on but there must be! Do anyone have any experience with this? Please help lol

Well when I've got it to latch there is still around a one inch gap at the front where the gas tank is and its pretty loose. There are 2 black flat tabs sticking out of gas tank and the seat has two square holes in the front. It looks like the flat tabs should go inside the square holes on the seat but I can't tell.

Yes, that is correct. Try pushing down on the front of the seat as you slide it toward the front of the quad. Sometimes it can be a bitch until you get the knack for it. On the same note. If the front of the seat seems to be held down but there is still a large gap between the seat and tank, that is normal.

Okay I don't believe I've got the tabs to go inside the seat. I will try messing with it this afternoon. Thanks for your help!

Hope you got it! But if not, my best explanation would be to....

1) Hold seat with both hands, one front and one rear.
2) Depress latch lever on rear of seat.
3) Angle the front of the seat downward.
4) Position seat front on frame about 2" behind where it should be when installed/latched.
5) Move/Slide the seat forward while slowly lowering the rear end (Note: Remove front hand when close to fuel tank / don't want to pinch it!)
6) Once rear end is resting on frame, seat should be in correct position, release latching lever.

Should be good to go!

I'll have to give that a try when I get off! I've had an 850ho and a rancher and the seats were never this hard to put on lol

The planets must be lined up perfectly I finally got it to latch. I had to push down on the front while depressing the latch at the back. Thanks for the help!
