help
i have play in the pinion bearing and leaking seal (water filling
rear diff)
i've got the diff loose and belt cover off and the diff wont come
out.does the clutch have to be removed ??

well.i've been chatting with weasel and the clutches and
cvt covers have to be removed..fun
so you other guys in the mix with the same issue..
thats the way it is..

Check the service manual.

On my 2011 850 x2, I could remove the differential by taking the clutch cover off but NOT the clutch(es). Its a Houdini act but the manual describes how to do it.

hey man
the clutches have to come out as well as the rear half of the clutch
cover (no houdini acts here) no other waay around it...
anyhow;i also had to replace my rear diff.big problems when opened
up after 650 miles..

I you have not already replaced your rear gearcase, I have an almost new one for sale.

If you want to upgrade, replace it with a real differential (turf mode).
