Looking to gain some low end (Scrambler 400)

I have a 2001 Scrambler 400 2x4 and I took her out for a nice long trail ride yesterday for the first time. The quad has great top end but really lags in the low end (2 stroke issues). Is there anything I can do to increase the low end (without spending thousands of dollars). I'm new-ish to quads but NOT new to cars/trucks/motorcycles. I had searched and someone recommended a 11/42 sprockets, opinions?

-Thanks, Brian

io know this is old post but my 4x4 2 stroke scrambler has lots of low end.It ll pull the wheels off the ground from dead stop.only mods are a wiseco piston and pj 36mm carb.Havent played with the clutching yet but i did play with the cvt on a kfx700 i had a few yrs back.Be careful with clutch kits. There is no free lunch regardless of what you hear.Thats why companies want to know what kind of riding you do and tire size motor mods etc.
