Why does it matter? I think most manufactures try to keep stock machines around 85db. The tone can be quite different. Do you like the sound of the 850? I like mine a lot, but I wouldn't want it any louder really. You can tell it means business, but its not going to piss others off. That's important!
It matters that it should not be too loud that it bothers people living near the trails. Pretty suprising that Polaris made a stock machine that loud. I like it, but if it were any louder it probably would be too much for me. Don't want to give people people an excuse to try to get the trails closed down.
