Low and sporadic idle, stalling

Has anyone else had this problem? Arose last night after we had been riding all day. Every time I would stop it would stall out. Today after washing it up it did it again. Sometimes it felt as if the throttle was stuck as the rpm would stay at 3500 or so after a blip of the throttle then after 5-10 seconds it would drop to the norm 1200-1250 then drop to 1150-1100 and stall out. Sometimes it does not do it, sometimes it will start up then immediately stall. Any ideas?

Stalling.. do you stop and go a lot? Like ride for a short period and then leave it? Supposedly the stock sparkplug is prone to fouling up.

After washing it, maybe water is getting into the sparkplug boot? Check and see if there's too little or too much dielectric grease in there. Also check your battery connections.

Sounds like something in the ECU for the stuck idle. Try disconnecting the battery, leave it for a few minutes, and reconnect it. Maybe the computer has a bug in it.

I have 5 hours on my 570 and the spark plug is already looking like it is going to have problems. I bought an Iridium NGK replacement, but must have cross referenced the wrong one. From all of the things I have read, Iridium is the way to go with these machines. Look into it for sure, after all, what's the $7 in the long run?

I've heard about the spark plug issue but most of the rides I go on are fairly long. It was weird because I rode all day with no issues then on the last ride of the day it started acting up, then today it did it as well. I'm going to take it to the dealer nxt week as it only has 20 hrs on it. Thanks for the help

Try running with the airbox lid removed. Not in deep mud and water obviously, but see how it runs with the lid off.

If it runs better, your quad is running rich and the extra air is leaning things out and making the motor happy. If it gets worse, the quad is running lean.

It's a quick way to see if the issue is a fueling(air fuel ratio) issue...

A lot of these 570's run rich, to the extent that they foul plugs...

Thanks Squire, I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow to see what their diagnosis is. It's still under warranty so I figure I'll let them fiddle with it. Other tan this lil instance it's been a great machine. I'll be sure to post what the dealer says though.

The day after it had originally happened it started acting up on first start up. Today when I started it up to put on the truck to take to the dealer tomorrow the first turn of the key failed to start it, along with an odd sound. It started on the second try with no issues but was idling at about 1350 to 1400 rpm not the usual 1200-1250. The tank thing may have caused or led to the original happening but I ran it through that whole day with no problems ( with stops in between) it didn't do it until dark when the temp started dropping.

Ok heard back from the dealer today. The issue they found (so far) is that the fly wheel key was sheared. They believe this caused a timing issue with the spark plug which led to the idle/dying ect. The part is on order (hoping to have it by Thursday). Once this is fixed they will be able to tell if anything else is wrong, until then I wait and pray that's all it is.

Ok, finally got her back on Saturday morning. Rode all day/night with no problems. As to what led to the flywheel key to break I'm sure I'll never really know. The tech said usually hydro-locking the motor will cause it but I know nothing I have done/gone through would have done that. Or the nut holding the flywheel was loose. Either way they took care of it and she's running good once again.

What YEAR is your 570? (Can't find it listed anywhere.)

Good news is after it was fixed I haven't had any problems *knocks on wood*. Just passed 100 hrs

2014 sportsmen 570 touring idile issues

Have taken to dealer once for idile trouble engine light coming on. Will die and not want to start back unless you used throttle to rev it up. Dealer put on computer and adjusted the idle and updated the computer with a update. Well its been two weeks and is doing all same stuff all over again. Please help I bought new and have all work done at the dealership. I did notice this happens after about ten miles of riding.

What year and model do you own? List your quad in your signature. It helps out a lot.:)

Strange, my 2015 is 1350-1400 at idle and it's ran perfect so far (25 hours). What does everyone else's idle at stock?

Mine idles at 1200-1250 most the time.

Also, check the tank for water.

Mine started acting up, and somehow I had about 1/4 of my tank filled with water, I have no idea how. I never submerge the thing, the cap is always on tight... But water got in there somehow, maybe from washing it?
