Hello everybody, new to the board ...My first question is about the rear suspension on a 95 Magnum 425
I have searched everywhere on the topic and found close to nothing except that these specific parts are all but discontinued.

As anyone upgraded a rear suspension on a Magnum 425, especially the rear sping as I need to carry more weight. Any compatible upgrade or custom modifications that can be done ... Feels like people have already given up on these atv's

So what you are saying is you are wanting to overload the rear of the vehicle and you think you can do so safely by simply modifying the suspension? The weight and loading restrictions are in the owners manual (service manual refers you to the owners manual for the information).

Yes, the antique vehicles are all but relegated to museums and junk yards - Polaris has no responsibility to support vehicles beyond the last production date. As the supply of parts is exhausted, the machines are parked and forgotten. You can get different springs or different shocks to modify what you have and it will not affect your warranty or Polaris's liability.

The load limit was on a CSPC warning label on top of the LH rear fender - that label is NLA and vehicle owners have to rely on the literature supplied at the time of purchase.

Well, actually, I just want a stiffer spring to accomodate maybe 50 pounds more.... Going hunting with my hunting buddy, we just feel the bike is on the limit with both of us on it and it's just to give it a little more muscle to carry us around...

AHH! There's the problem - riding two up on a vehicle not designed for two - good luck in your endeavors and try not to kill one of you (which is what usually happens (eventually) when two people get on something designed for one). You are not supposed to ride two up on a horse, but it happens all the time and usually one or both fall off at some point.

You might be able to adjust the spring some to get a little more out of it. The only drawback is the more the swing arm is compressed from weight, the tighter the chain gets. Remember this when hitting bumps if your riding two people on it.

I'll try to adjust preload... thanks for the input ... I had a shop adjust the chain a couple of years back and they put zero deflection with the suspension up ... It took 60 seconds of riding and one the swingarm pivots broke ... Now, I adjust my chain myself with the suspension totally compressed, leaving the correct 1/4 inch play ....because I know the weight is major factor ...
