Magnum Knocking noise

Hello EVeryone. My Magnum 325 that I just bought runs great except its got this metal on metal sounding knock. I cannot determine where it is coming from. I took a sounding rod and sounded out different areas of the motor and it seemed very quiet. The sound almost sounds like the exhaust is rattling but but have determined that is not it. Everything I've looked at is tight but have not taken off the body to check further. Is there anything in the motor/ drive train that may be causing this. When I shut it off it does have a rattle which sounds like its coming from the motor on the left side.

have you adjusted your valves? if not start there.

depending how old the engine is it could be piston slap, it's a normal part of a worn engine

Manean, If it was a worn piston wouldn't I have heard it thru the sounding rod. I mean i could hear every valve tick.

it can be difficult at times to pinpoint a sound in the engine. however, you are right you should have been able to detect a slap when listening to the lower cylinder. What are the chances that you can post sound clip or a youtube video of the sound?
