My first maintenance due date is approaching. My questions are should i take it back to the dealership for the first one? Is their anything special they do? I have heard that the local Honda shop checks valves and alot of extras for the first maintenance.

They just change the fluids and in some cases the spark plugs. They charge the earth for it and I prefer to do it myself. You have to remember that it is likely being performed by a 16 year old trainee.

Yes the first 25 hours you should change everything, There will be small particles of metal from the initial wear and you need to get that fluid out. I change every 25 hours but you can probably get away with every 50 after the first maintenance
