I just found that the manufacturing date of my bike is September 22 2015. But I bought it at the Polaris dealer as a 2016 model on April 2016

Is my bike really a 2016 model?

On vehicles you can buy a "next year model" since the last months of the previous year. For example you can buy a 2017 Silverado on November 2016 with no problem.

Is the same with this machines?

How would you consider it a "left over deal" if it is the current model year??? :nixweiss: A 2016 model sold in 2016 isn't exactly a left over. :kopfkratz:

Exactly... it's not considered a "left over / carry over" until the following year.

For Example: Any 2016 model year machine will be considered a "carry over" (old inventory) when it is still brand new sitting on the dealers floor as of January 1, 2017!!

And as stated prior.... the "Next Model Year" machines are released for sale generally in the last quarter of the preceding model year.

Clear as mud? Good, cause that's how it's worked for decades!

Yep, Auto Industry stops taking orders for the current model year in April or May and the factories start changing up to build the new models. New model year actually starts Aug 1. So in Aug of 2016 you would not be able to get a 2016 model unless it is already on the lot somewhere. Nov of 2012, I got a great deal on my truck because it was a "left over". Still a brand new truck, but lots of financial incentives to get it off the lot. ATV, motorcycle etc are all the same type of system.

I've seen this practice cause some trouble with customer satisfaction. In July or August of 2000, Polaris did an early release 2001 model. It was the Ducks Unlimited special edition Sportsman with the wetlands camo plastic. The shop I worked for at the time sold 2 or 3 of them. Problem was, they didn't have any of the MY 2001 upgrades like the 500HO engine, the steel braided brake lines, or the upgraded master cylinder and brakes. They were titled and advertised as 2001 models. Needless to say, people were pissed when they saw the actual 2001 Sportsman. Especially when they paid the extra money for a "premium model".

Polaris generally announces their next model year line up in late July. with inventory hitting dealers in August-September.
