from what I have read big horns are not very good in the mud...personally I would go with the zillas!

 

I put a set of 28" Zillas on my 2012 500. Love them, does a great job in the mud and trail, specially rocks

 

My brother has the big horns.they look great and are a nice trail tire.only used them in lite mud and they where fine.

 

Big Horns and Zillas are two completely different types of tires. Big Horns are designed for trail riding in hard pack, rocky terrain & loose dirt. They give you a very smooth, plush ride with very little feedback in the handlebars. Zillas are designed for wet, sloppy, muddy conditions. They will do anything a Big Horn will do but with more handlebar feedback, a little more vibration, and a far less ride quality.
To be honest, I wouldn't even compare two.

 

yep if you want to play in the mud the only choice between the 2 is the Zillas. Bighorns do alot of things well but mud isn't one of them. Zillas are rough at low speeds but smooth out at 5 or 10mph.

 

Thanks guys for the input. I just got a line on a set of 28" 'zillas for $600. Turns out my neighbour is upgrading his rzrs rubber to 32". Thinking I might take him up on it

 

guys are buying new 27" Zillas round here for a little over $400.

 

I have changed my options. I have officialy taken bighorns off the table and am now looking at the silverback xlites. Do you all out there think my stock 500 HO has the jam to turn them without any major upgrades??

 

What about the ITP Mudlite XTR's?

 

I'm running 26" mud lite xtr's and they tear it up for me.

 

have not had any issues with my 27" xtr's pull nice through mud and ride smooth
