I'm not sure you can install the jet block incorrectly, but the hole goes toward the air filter side of the carb.

 

Latebird your the Master. Thx.for getting back. This rich at idle is killing me. I have been struggling with this issue for a while. I have been lowering the float level about five times and it did help. My next plan is to move the jet needle down. If that don’t fix it ??? My thought is probably checking the cam lopes. Any other suggestions. Thanks again. Glad to see you are still out there.

 

There are 4 things that adjust the idle mixture: the size of the pilot jet, the size of the pilot air jet, the fuel mixture screw and the float bowl fuel level. The slide needle is for mid range and has minimal effect on idle and top end.
