what do I need to do to install a set of maxxis "zilla" tires (28x9x14 front) and (28x11x14 rear)?

my machine is a bone stock 06' sportsman 500 efi with the LE red flame.

I am assuming:

lift kit
clutch kit

what about:
tie-rod modifications
gearing??

thanks for the help, only looking to do this because I could get them for a really good deal

P.S. - almost 85% of my time is trail and the rest is in the mud

you shouldn't need a lift.
A clutch kit is a good idea.
And you will probably need wheel spacers. Depending on front end clearance.

Lots of stories here about oversize aggressive tires breaking axles, just sayin................

Setting up for mud when you ride 85% trail may make 85% of your ride less enjoyable.

I agree, why would you want to lift a trail ridden bike? True mud tires ride like shit on hardpack too, would beat you up pretty good too I would think.

well I decided to not run the tires, just wouldn't use them and probably enjoy the other 85% of my time. Besides I have only had to winch a handful of times with my stocker.

thanks for the help guys

You can fit the 28's with no lift, but I recommend a clutch kit to save your belt.
