So I’m deer hunting Sunday and get a nice buck down. I go get my atv to get him out and I have to back up a pretty good hill to get close.
It starts to spin a little so no problem I have 4wd. I flip the switch and it dies before it will even move. I know the have a safety to prevent going too fast in reverse but it would hardly move. And advise? I did finally get him out.
Idk how heavy this all was, but the switch overrides the rpms, which you need to do work. So if you had a lot of weight, you must hit the override switch.

Well I guess it’s an old age thing. I remember now my old Sportsman 500 had that button to override in reverse.
Don’t ever get old. It sucks.
Thanks for the replies guys.
What was the weather like for you? I had a similar issue plowing the other day. I’d throw it in reverse and as soon as I hit the override button the engine would shut off. I let the atv sit in the shop for a couple hours and the issue went away so I’m thinking something got wet and shorted to ground.
My problem was that I forgot to push the button. Next time out I’ll give it a try.
It’s all tucked away right now.
