My buddy and I got ATVs. We've heard Natchez Trace has ATV trails but we know nothing about the place. Can someone provide some info or comments?

Thanks!

At one time many years ago there were trails there. Me and the wife rode them when we went to LBL. They were pretty good trails and one ran along a pipeline for a long way and it was up and down all the way like a roller coaster. Still one of my favorite trails I have ever ridden.

Update: My buddy who just got a new Artic Kitty 700 and I took our ATVs to Natchez Trace State Park. They have trails (most of them are dirt and gravel roads) that are marked with the jeep logo. You are allowed to run those all day. You are not allowed to run the "pipeline" which is a buried oil/gas pipeline that cuts through the middle of the park. We ventured down onto a good mudhole on the pipeline before we saw the signs that said no motorized vehicles. We're rule followers so we left. Having said that, the pipeline is heavily used by ATVs and has mudholes and trails all over it. I don't know why they would post such an awesome place. I did not see anyone using those trails on the pipeline. There is a fair amount of trails and some have some decent mudholes.

Natchez Trace is a good place for kids and those who don't want the mudding experience. We parked at the entrance to the Shiloh trail. There are other marked and unmarked ATV trails that fork off of that you can run. The odo said we ran 41 miles. You are not allowed on the paved roads. Some trails were marked "Closed"; however, we saw folks just ripping along behind the signs. Some trails have downed trees that you can't get around and several trails just dead end. One of the locals said that things disappear from your trucks/trailers if they're not locked. I noticed heavy litter on some of the trails. . beer cans, candy wrappers, soft drink bottles, etc.

Anyway, it was a good day, we put some hours on the ATVs.

I have never heard any on the trace, I live a few miles from the upper end of the trace. Also consider the entire 444 mile length of the trace are a National Park so I bet no ATVs..

Good luck

Brian
My bad Justified, I was assuming ( and it did make ass of me :yikes:) that you were asking about the Natchez Trace Parkway, not the State park. Sounds like I need to check it out (the state park) as its not too far away either …

Cheers

Brian, no prob bro! Ha! ha! I should have been more clear in my initial question.

I'm looking for other good trails between Lebanon TN and Memphis to ride, so everyone please keep the feedback coming. My bud lives in Olive Branch, MS and I live in Lebanon TN, so we're trying to find trails in the middle somewhere.

I may look at Chickasaw, looking for details on that area.

Justified, what exit off 40 did you take to the park? Always looking for new trails to take my son. I'm heading to Royal Blue this Sunday/Monday with some guys.

There’s actually tons of atv trails on Natchez trace. Several are specifically for that use. One being just a few miles from the head near Jackson to. We just went and rode there last weekend in which we passed a number of atvs coming and going

The Forest is located in central-western Tennessee, in portions of Henderson, Carroll, and Benton Counties. It is approximately 30 miles east of Jackson and is bisected by I-40. The Forest originated from lands purchased by the Resettlement Administration and became a State Forest in 1949. exit 116 off I-40
