We have a 2012 sportsman 400. My cousin said he came in too fast in a corner so he had to hit the brakes hard. He said he heard a popping/clicking coming from the rear. Then he hit the gas after coming out of the corner and it will not go over 20 mph. It is hitting the rev limiter in high at 20 mph. Put it in low and it won't go over about 5-10 mph hitting rev limiter. We have no idea what It could be. Belt looks good, even put a new one on it to be sure. We are lost now. Please any help would be great. Thanks!

Could he have locked the brakes?

No it rolls fine. It's like its a gear or wiring thing. At 20 mph, wide open throttle hitting rev limiter. Like it's stuck in ultra low gear...

Popping/clicking is normally an axle. What's it do in 4wd?
