Hey all. New to ATV's so thought I would join the forum for some answers.
I grew up on dirt bikes and dune buggies, but not a lot of experience with 4 wheelers. I came across a really good deal on a low time ATV and had to pick it up. Been having a great time with it, and sure this won't be my last.
One thing I haven't found out is, what's the difference between an AWD on demand and a 4WD ATV?
Looking forward to being part of the forum.

Welcome! Here is my understanding of the differences. On Demand from Polaris is where you can put into AWD while in motion. Other brands, like CanAm, you have to stop first to put it into 4x4. Or it could be for the simple fact that the wheels turn independently in AWD and locked when the ADC is engaged.

When the switch is in 4x4 and the rear wheels slip a fifth of a rotation it engages the 4x4 and locks the front diff. When the rear wheels regain traction it disengages the 4x4 until you needed it again. I just leave mine in 4x4 all the time. Won't hurt anything
