Hello all,
Just bought a 2013 sportsman 400 HO. It's our first ATV, so went with something basic and dependable, and something my son (15yrs) and I can have a lot of fun with. We have 200 acres of woods behind us, and countless farms around the area. I spent some time today driving around to some of the farmers houses and asking them if I could ride around their land when their crops are down. I was surprised that evrrywhere I went, people said "sure" and didn't mind at all, it pays to be polite and ask permission! So far both my son and I LOVE this quad!! It's powerful enough for anything we want to do, or any hill we want to climb around this area. Goes great in 2 or 4 wheel drive, actually flies at about 58mph with me on it (225lbs). I just ordered a winch along with front and rear brush guards because even though it can easily plow down little saplings as we make our own trails through the woods, the guards would make sure I don't break a light or fender. There's a swampy area too that I won't go in until we get the winch. I am looking now for an upgraded exhaust, air filter, and carb jets, just for a deeper aggressive sound and better air/fuel ratio if I change the exhaust and intake, figure I need to rejet the carb. Can anyone let me know some good exhaust slip-ons that sound good and perform well? I don't want to spend more than 300 for this stuff though.

You are not going to get much from the filter, exhaust and jetting. I would spend that money on some other useful mods (just my 2¢) . Good Luck with the new machine and welcome to forum.

Welcome
I'm in the Cleveland area too, I'd like to invite you to attend one of our club (All Ohio Riders Assoc) meetings, the 10th of October 7PM. The meetings are at the local Polaris dealership All Ohio Motor Sports on Aurora Rd. in Bedford Hts. Todd and Ellen Meyer are the dealership owners as well as running the club, awesome people in the club too, now numbering 90+ members. Lots of organized rides (several trips to Hatfield McCoy, bus trip/hotel 2 nights, and transportation for your bike= $299) great group to ride with too. Todd and Ellen as well as other members have access to private land, land you might not otherwise get to ride. The meeting always offers food and beverages, as well as 50/50 raffle. Membership also includes discounts on parts and service if you ever need it. Check it out sometime.
