Have a 2004 polaris Sportsman 400. Original tires. I really just use the bike for light messing around.. little bit of hunting and to plow a 70-80 ft driveway on a medium hill for NY winters.
What tire would you guys recommend. about 70% plowing / 30% woods
I am not interested in buying new wheels - but I would go with a larger tire that would raise me a little if I could - is this an option?
I run maxxis bighorn 2.0's and they have been good to me. Some other notable tires to look at are the original maxxis bighorn and zillas; STI black diamond ATR and XTR also the roctane; itp black water evolution, mega mayhem, and Terra cross; GBC grim reapers, Kenda bear claw and the bear claw HTR. To keep the factory rims you'll need a front tire no wider then 8" and the rear can go from 10"-12" wide.
I'm buying Kenda BearClaw HTR's for my 570.
I did a whole bunch of reading on tires they seem to be the best fit for me and the price is right.
I'm going up in size but will have to use a spacer so they dont rub. I'm not sure on your machine but find out for sure before you pull the trigger on some.
i would go with the zillas, they are not too heavy for your 400 and they will do what you ask for.
i drove with them 6000 km for now and they just lost 0.2 inch.
Check out rocky mountain atv & mc for pricing, they seem to be pretty good.
