On a recent trip out I noticed that the front wheels were not pulling in reverse. I have very low miles so I haven't noticed it before. I have read about all the torque sensing and actually 3wd and all that but the back wheels were spinning (and stuck) and nothing up front. Am I missing something or do we have a problem. Any advise and suggestions would be helpful.

What model do you have?You are aware of the overide button?

If there is a yellow button push it.. Sounds like you have an override button. Check you manual.

Yep, try the override button when it reverse. BUT DON'T PUSH IT IF THE REAR WHEELS ARE SPINNING! Push the button in and hold it BEFORE you give it any throttle.

If that works, I would do the reverse override mod... then you won't have to hold the button in. I love mine. :yup:

I'll double check the manual. I wasn't aware that it had to be pushed to engage the 4wd I thought it was more or less a govener so you don't over rev in reverse when you have less control. Thank you for the suggestions I'll see if that works and let you know.

brings back memories.i recall when my machine was delivered.
First thing i take that manual in the house gonna sit down and read it before any riding.Yea right!lol.
the pull of that shiny new machine was to much.Throw down that manual and away i go.
Had a some snow on the ground.heads out the trail.Get out on some ice on a swamp without realizing it.Through I go.Water over the wheels Puts her in reverse.Two wheel drive only.wtf
So she was just digging holes.
Had to keep going forward out into the swamp.Busting ice and getting muddy.
My new bike and me smelling and looking like a swamp when that was over with.
I'm driving home thinking what a piece of crap this bike is no 4x4 in reverse.
Sat down read the manual.Saw my mistake.lol.
Went back out drove in that swamp to the spot i broke through.Backed out no problem.
education is hard.Ignorance is harder lol.

On a Polaris, it is in effect... the override to the reverse governor (speed limiter). However, it also functions to allow AWD in reverse.

You'll be fine now. Just remember... don't push it in if the rear wheels are spinning... add the reverse override mod.

On the new XP's you don't have to hold the button in for AWD in reverse.

Murthebear, thats exactly how I was feeling, get in and give the dealer a piece of my mind. I am feeling a little stupid right about now I'm glad I asked. Thanks for the help. I actually did read the manual but that was a one sentence thing you would think it would have been a little more noticable. Again thank you all!!

On mine all i did was to cut the tie wrap that holds the wiring harness to the handlebars. Then take some good electrical tape while holding the button in and wrap it about 20 times. I have had mine out in the rain and snow with no problems and when i go to sell it everything is still like from the factory.

Buy a reverse overide mod of ebay, i got one with the high beam mod for like $6!
