Hi guys name is Brendon I'm new to the forum, recently bought a 98 xplorer 400 with no compression so a new piston rings and cylinder later had it runnin. After couple minutes of idleing noticed crank case vent was puking out milky oil. So coolant is getting in oil some how I assume water pump gasket? Is this a common problem on this machine? Any help would be appreciated

Was it burning it too? Smoking like a mutha while running? If it's not burning it then its not going in through the head gasket. Pumping out the crankcase breather is from being overfilled which can be from too much oil initially or the addition of lots of coolant as you see in the milkiness.

Welcome to the forums. Most likely the water pump and counter balancer oil seals leaking.
Mine even had oil on the pull start rope.

Thanks for the reply guys no it's not smokin anymore than a 2stroke should, no oil on the pull rope, are the water pump seals a hard job? Any special tools needed? Once again thanks for the replays
