Hi All.
Hoping that someone can help with an oil issue. Was getting ATV ready for winter and decided to do oil change, front/rear oils. lubrication, etc.....
After draining the oil and changing filter I added approx 1.9L of 0W40 oil, checked the dip-stick and noted above the "full" line....started machine and let run for 20 sec or so then shut off....checked oil level and was still way above the "full" line.....noting this I tried the oil pump priming procedure (released vice-grips with machine running) but did not hear the release of any air. Tried a total of 5 times and nothing, oil still above the "full" line.
I have changed the oil 3 times prior and never had a problem, oil level would drop after starting, just not this time.
Any thoughts or tricks-of-the-trade?
Dont want to run engine too long if oil is not getting in there.
Thanks in advance.

what a pecker head.....me not you.
No I didn't.......
Will drain sump/crank to fill level on stick.
I would think if there is oil in the filter, pump is working correctly.
Agree?

Thanks

Yupp, if the filter has oil in it, should be primed.

The air gush must be quiet, i have never heard it myself, and a I prime each oil change.

I kinda clumsy, so I pull my right running board each change, makes getting the plug out easier.

Thanks,

Will
