I posted this in the wrong section the other day. I have own my 2015 Polaris Sportsman XP 1000 exactly one year and after putting on over 1500 miles I am more than pleased. I understand some are having some heat issues and I hate to hear that. Mine gets hot after long riding but no melting or glowing. The power is more than enough for anyone and the handling is unbelievable. I do mostly trial riding and using it to plant food plots and it's not let me down. Plenty of kick ass torque to pull most anything within reason. I have had it up to 82 MPH and pulled back after I got too scared...I have added many extras to compliment this machine as you can see below. I haven't had to fix or repair anything. I don't take it thru deep mud/water as I see some guys do nor do I beat it to hell with no regard to what I might break by this behavior. If you are looking for a fast, smooth riding machine that can carry a 6-5, 260 lb man and equipment over 82 MPH, THEN THIS IS THE MACHINE FOR YOU! I don't regret in buying this baby.

Holly cow an XP 10,000 !! That's be like the "Boss Hoss" motorcycle of ATV's!!

Sorry had to say it..... (per the thread title) :D

That's nice to hear a good review / machine with no issues (they all get hot in my opinion... your sitting on a motor for @#$% sakes people!)!!

I too have been toying with the idea of moving up from the 800 to either an 850 or 1000 XP. I'n just scared to make the move from the bullet proof value line 800 machine to a "trouble stricken" XP series (or so that's what forums paint them to be.... heat, melting plastics/seat, worn bushings, spun engine crank gear issues, ect.).

Lol.... too many 0s and typing without my readers :biglaugh: I had a 800 and had to replace a valve with less than 800 miles, then I had a 850 who spun it's crankshift with 900 miles....so I understand your reservations....my wife had a 550 XP that ran great until she flipped and totaled it. She now has the 570 SP... she loves it and I've rode it a few times.. sweet machine....I understand that some of the 1000 XPS are having heat issues....not sure why or how and have read all the threads about it. I love mine and like I said mine gets hot but my leg doesn't burn or no melting issues... knock on wood....but wouldn't a 10000 be great!!! :rambo:

Ditto with what Buckmaster said. I've had mine for a year now, but only about 600 miles on it :lame: I know. I just can't get away as much as I'd like.

I have to say it's been a complete dream machine so far - LOTS of power. Riding two-up on soft sand and hitting the throttle - man that thing can pull! Love the suspension and the handling is awesome.

One can certainly see how a smaller, more nimble machine would be more fun in a lot of situations. But in the end, the power and the ride are great and it's a good fit for me. I'm getting Tatou 4s tracks for it this week so we can ride in the snow too. Can't waste those winter months afterall :)

As to the heat issue, I started that poll to find out how pervasive the problems are. Sadly there are over 50% that have either glowing red-hot exhaust, or actual melting of the plastic. I'm fortunate to be one that it only gets a little hot, about like you'd expect and it's never gotten uncomfortable.

Interested in knowing what you think of the tracks after you get to use them? If you don't moind say'n - where did you buy them?
I have had a set for a few years - moved them from my '10 550 to my '15 850. Bought and installed the correct sprokets. Love them on the 850. Ton's of power.

Nice feedback. I have the touring and I am similarly pleased. Super stable with the added wheelbase, plenty of power on trails at 9500ft elevation. Removed the rear seat and added a pack to double as my backrest. Only slight concern is the handle bars have moved ever so slightly out of alignment a couple times. Easy fix. No exhaust heat issues beyond the purple/gold pipe. Actually accelerates better with a passenger to plant the rear. I can drag my 14ft car hauler around the yard as needed with little effort (1500lbs). It has been a solid purchase to date.

I've had good luck with my 1k also, no glowing or melting but it does get hot! I will be able to tell more this summer on some technical riding.
