I have a 2004 Polaris sportsman 500 HO 4x4 that starts up and runs like a top but overheats too quickly. If I am riding at high speeds it does just fine and doesn’t throw a temp warning light or anything but the moment I stop and idle for a couple minutes the temp warning light comes on and it happens very quickly when I am just taking a slow cruise down the trails like within 10 minutes quick I checked my coolant and my coolant is still good it looks as it should but I can’t for the life of me figure out what the issue is.

Is your fan kicking in? My XP550 was doing that a couple of years ago.. Fine riding 15 miles and hour or faster. Cruise along slow and the temp light came on. The fan was stuck and wouldn't come on. Mud or something had caused the fan to stick. Spun the fan by hand and it spun free. Worked fine after that.

Well the old radiator and fan had a switch to turn the fan on constantly and it would still overheat quickly I installed a new radiator and newer fan and now that switch to turn the fan on doesn’t work but it does kick in but it’s real spotty when it kicks in the time to overheat was extended probably 15 minutes with that new radiator but it still overheats way quicker than it should

When you replaced the radiator, did you fill with coolant, then run it with the radiator cap off and keep adding coolant until the fluid was hot in the radiator to purge the system of air?

Post removed, now pointless.
Typed message, hit post, lost signal, reconnected hours later, post made. 🤷
