Hey guys,
I had my 99 polaris xpedition worked on a few months ago. When I took it to the mechanic I had a toggle switch that allowed me to turn on the radiator fan. He took it upin himself to put a new thermostat in and eliminating the switch. Great of itd work but its only turned on a couple times since ai got it baack aand now she’s over heating with in 15 mins and it’s starting to blow hose. My question is should I readdress the thermostat and replace the hoses or go back to the toggle switch along with replacing the hoses? Thoughts?
Thanks in advance men!!!

I think you have a more serious issue that needs to be addressed. It's overheating for a reason and continuing to bandaid it is the wrong approach.

As to the "mechanic" that you took it to before, personally I'd never go back. At no time should ANY tech remove, disconnect, or disable something on a vehicle of any kind without express permission from the owner. In my book, that guy just paid for the whole job and would not be getting a repeat customer.....that also applies to installing parts or other repairs. As a professional technician with more than 40 years of experience, that's what I call a HACK.....find a reputable place to take it if you aren't comfortable doing the repairs yourself.

As far as the overheating is concerned, it could be several things. Blown head gasket, damaged or failing water pump, blockage in the cooling passages or radiator. Before you melt it down, take it and get it diagnosed properly, then get it PROPERLY repaired. You should not need an external fan switch if the cooling system and fan control system are working the way they were designed.....

I would take it back to the monkey that worked on it and have him reinstall the parts he removed and inform that he was doing for free or going to court to explain why he performed service that was not requested and said service created a problem that was not a problem prior to the service.
