Hello All,

I am new here and hoping for a little help.

I have a 2002 Polaris sportsman 400 and my fan is not working, I do know the fan is ok as I have tested, I also know my temp sensor (on the engine) is not working. My question is does that sensor have anything to do with the fan? I believe that sensor only controls the temp light but just looking to make sure.

If that sensor only controls the temp light I assume the problem is the temp sensor on the rad.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The temp sensor is nothing more than a switch. As it heats up it closes at a defined temperature. Can be tested with a multimeter. If it is not closing when it gets hot then it's bad.

Thanks Starrider

I already know the temp switch is shot, I am just curious if that has anything to do with the fan not working.
