250 trailboss

Sounds like a stuck needle valve or float, not letting fuel into the carb.
If the carb was really gummed up, it may need a complete cleaning and overhaul.

Ok i took the carb back off and brought it in my house so i can see much better and i took every part out of it and seen if it was dirty and it looks good i took it and blew air through and put it back together i will check to see if anything happens tomorrow. But can i take a coffe can or something and put the carb in it and let it soak in carb cleaner or anything else? If so what is the best way to let it soak in something?

Check the rubber boot the carb mounts on for cracks. If it has cracks in it the bike will suck air through it and not pick up fuel.

Agree, overhaul the carb.

If it has paper/fiber gaskets there's the possibility that they've shrunk -- if the carb was dry for a while. Dried out paper gaskets don't always swell back up to their original size, and thus can potentially not seal and cause vacuum issues, leaks, etc.

If it sat wet for a while there's a chance the needle(s)/jet(s) are pitted/corroded.

ok i went out and put the carb on just to see what it will do and i turned the gas on and pulled it over and it started it i tried to let it idle but soon as i let off the throttle it will die so i tried to drive it around my yard i made it around my house like 3 times then i stopped and it dies. so im gunna push it back in the garage and check the rubber boot and that stuff. O when i went to start it i didnt have to put fuel in the carb it started on its own

ok sorry about not getting back sooner but i took the carb over to my neighbors and he bent the float arm or whatever its called to get more gas or somthing its what the needle valve holds on to but he bent that a little and it ran great i was riding it the whole day but i still have a problem i still need to put gas in the carb just to start it everytime what would cause that do i need to bend it more or what should i do i checked the boot also and its good theres no cracks or anything in it its just when i start it everytime i have to put fuel in the carb.

First, I'm not a carb guy by any means, but reading that you need to
put gas in the carb to start. There could be some adjusting needed with
the choke. Next, maybe the fuel lines themselves need changed or
cleaned along with a new fuel filter.

Since your getting it to run for awhile, maybe spray some carb cleaner in
it with throttling it up a few times while it's running. May have to take
the boot off that goes between the air box & carb to do this. Of course
then there's the air filter also, did you put a new one on?

There's adding the trusty Seafoam or Startron in the fuel tank also.

ok how do i adjust the choke? And ill replace the fuel lines even if there good who knows its been sitting for like 2 years but ill reaplace the fuel lines and the fuel filter. And no i did not change the air filter but ill probley get another one of those also and ill take the carb off and take it to someone that knows about carbs like Diesel man 03 said and maybe they can figure it out but ill let ya know what i find out thanks guys!
