Thinking of getting one, how does it work exactly?
I put one on as soon as I mounted my winch. I love it. I have used it while plowing dirt and had zero issues. It will get much more of a work out this winter though.
Cubby,
The hawse connects to the switch/winch (wired to the power) and there are magnets in the rubber "saver" that goes over the rope. When that gets close enough to the hawse, the magnets interrupt the circut in the hawse, which stops the winch from going in any further.
I set mine up so that the winch stops retracting about 1/2" before the plow will hit when in the up position. This ensures no worries of the winch damaging itself, the rope, the bike or the plow.

My only sugestion, is throw a couple wraps of electrical tape on either side of the saver to ensure it stays where ever you want it.

the first thing i noticed was the stopper sticking to the fairlead sometimes. the electrical tape works like a charm by holding it tight to the hook. i haven't given it much thought about adding a half inch window for plowing as that kind of defeats the purpose of the fairlead in the first place but anything can fail at some point so i guess it won't hurt to play it safe.
