When i ride my 2008 polaris outlaw 525irs it runs good until i get done then when i try to start it the neutral light wont come on then when i shift into first i pull the clutch in and the neutral light comes on dim but wont start. when its in neutral it will make the exact sound as if it was going to start just never does. i replaced the gear position sensor and still does it. i slapped the top of the plastic where the key goes and the neutral light came on but i started it and it died as soon as i gave it gas. seems to happen more often when the fourwheeler gets hot.
Well based on your description it may have a loose/slightly corroded connection in the ignition. Take the pod apart, disconnect ignition, clean & put some dilectric grease at the contact points (both ends - other side goes to main board) and try again. Luck!
