When I ride 2004 polaris sportsman 500
in the snow and I get stuck I will rev it to try get out and I will let off the gas it will start making a skweking noise and shut off and sometimes it gets stuck in gear when its skweking and it shuts off and gets stuck in low gear. Any ideas why it does this?

That's your belt squealing in the clutches, then getting hot and binding up. Bet you're in high gear when it happens too.

How do I fix this? And you were right I was in high gear.

use low gear....your burning your belt up now....its probaly glazed big time..i would do a belt inspection soon you may have some burn areas they may blow soon for weakness....

The belt is in good condition. The primary clutch is squeling when I try to start it. Any idea what that noise is in the clutch?

Your primary is probably gummed up with belt goo and dust from the burning and slipping you've done to it already. Take the belt off, clean out the clutches and inspect them to make sure they are moving freely and working correctly. If you're not comfortable with the work, get a service manual for your machine and see if it sounds like something you can do yourself or bring it to a qualified mechanic.
