Was the cheap Chinese CDI an AC or DC unit? You need an AC.

 

Well the CDI I purchased was for 89-99 models. The person I bought the ATV from said it was a 97 but the Cdi seemed like it would work. As of the AC DC thing I have no idea here is a link to the part I bought.

No, the connecter should look like this one. This is what mine originally looked like before buying the new one. All of the replacement cdi boxes seem to have this connecter that does not work.

So you just changed the terminations, right?

Now you will need to test the stator or just put in a new one and inspect the flywheel for loose or broken magnets.

 

Did some messing around and got it to have spark. It is really weak spark tho.
