I have a 99 Polaris explorer 2stroke bike. Was having trouble with water
Pump seals on balancer shaft. So I replaced the balancer shaft, I got a
Remanufactured one ,that had new shaft for seals to ride on. Looked really
Good.seals were tight.went ahead and rebuilt whole bottom end while
It was apart. New crank bearings an seals.moose racing seals, and
Gaskets.bike runs an performs like new. But now my oil in the case turns
Black after couple hours.and getting metal shavings in it. Could this be
Crank pressure/or exhaust turning it black?I'm sure its just them 2gears
Wearing in. But why is it turning oil black, so quickly?

Did you check for end-play when you put it back together? They want them pretty tight.
You could try changing the oil and keep an eye on it.

Everything was tight when I put it back together. But I may go ahead and take cover off and check it. I've changed oil twice since rebuild 3 weeks ago. Oil is black every time with metal shavings. Turns black pretty fast. Just after a 2-4 hrs of riding.
