01 sportsman 500 H.O.

Me and my buddy went on a pretty long ride this weekend, about 120 miles round trip. We were running 30-45mph most the way (besides some mud they were easy trails), and the ol 500 did really well hanging with his 570, i was impressed.

We got back to camp and i tossed it in reverse to turn it around and load it, i heard a really weird slipping noise. Im thinking its the reverse chain. Fowards function normally.

Heres my questions though...

1- How does the front driveshaft come out of the trans? I see a slip yoke but is there a roll pin in it? The shaft was just out by a dealer back in april to do u joints, so it shouldnt come out hard.

2- I have a feeling getting the one CV off is gonna be a bitch. I soaked it with PB/WD but any helpful tips here?

3- Is there anything else this noise could possibly be?

Oil level is correct and reverse still works, but its noisy.

Any input is appeciated!

Do i have to remove it there before i yank the trans? Or can i just pull the trans away from the shaft? Leaving the front of the shaft hooked up?

If you can get it out that way. I don't think you can.
